Delete did not work (either from desktop, either from C:\Users\Public\Desktop).For some reason, when I right clicked and deleted as an admin it worked. They're also gone from the All apps menu. Usually, a re-boot will sort things out and reflect the changes you make… But there is NO GUARANTEE! After removing the Access 2016 shortcut from the Programs folder in File Explorer, the shortcut will also disappear from the All Apps list.

The "pin to Start" command adds the item to this list on the right. Go into Windows Explorer, find the Desktop folder in your profile (not too difficult, in XP it's Documents and Settings\yourusername\Desktop) and set the view to detail.Repeat with Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop Whenever it finds that the original files installed using it are modified, it starts up & re-installs the files.
